Board Member

Karen is a lifelong resident of Maine and a Rockport resident since 1980. After receiving a dual degree in Family and Consumer Science and Early Childhood education from the University of Maine at Farmington, Karen spent three years in Boston as her husband of fifty years finished his dental school education. Once back in the state of Maine, Karen worked in banking and experienced the joy of having and raising two sons.

As an educator at heart, she spent sixteen years in secondary education in three different school systems. During her thirteen years in the SAD28/Five Town CSD school system, Karen incorporated her love of children with a preschool program within the Family and Consumer Science curriculum, and was a member of the accreditation team twice. Karen rounded out her employment years as the office manager of her husband’s dental practice. Even though she is technically retired, Karen is busy each and every day. She enjoys sewing, knitting, baking for others, fall bird hunting, golf, time at Whitetail Manor, and pickleball, which she is passionate about! In fact, pickleball and the warm, welcoming members and staff are the reason she has committed to MRC. Chances are if she is in the MRC building, you’ll find her on the pickleball court.
