MRC Policies

Facility Waiver

A waiver must be filled out each year for everyone participating in any activity in our building. Facility Waivers can be filed electronically by following the "Facility Waiver" button on our main page, or a paper copy can be downloaded below and returned to the Front Desk.

Pre-Registration

Except for our Public Skates, we ask that you pre-register for all programs before coming in to participate. This is partially to allow us to know who to expect in the building and who to call in the rare case that a program has to be cancelled, but also because there is often more demand for our programs than we have space. Preregistering ensures you have a spot before you come in to play.

Payment

All programs must be paid for at the time of registration. Lessons must be paid for before heading out onto the court or the ice.

Court Rentals

Court Rentals can only be made up to 2 weeks in advance. If you are making multiple bookings or booking multiple courts, payment must be taken at time of booking.

Cancellation Policy

Daily Programs, lessons, and rentals must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance to receive a refund or to not be charged. For programs and rental cancellations, please contact the Front Desk. For lesson cancellations, please contact your pro directly!

For week, month long, or 6-week program registrations, such as our Youth Summer Tennis camps and Learn to Play programs, cancellations must be done at least a week in advance to receive a refund.

If there are extenuating circumstances, please contact our Tennis or Arena Directors, Seth Meyer and Jesse Simko, to explain your situation and exceptions may be made.

As there are often more people wanting to get in to a program than we have space, we do ask that you still call to cancel your registration even if you will not be receiving a refund, so that we can call the next person on the waitlist!

Waitlist

If a program is full, you may opt to be put on a waitlist. You will not be charged for the program unless/until you make it off the waitlist and into the program. We ask that you do not show up for your program unless you have received a call confirming that there is a spot for you.

Financial Assistance

As a non-profit organization, we are committed to the promotion of healthy living and believe that everyone should have access to sports and fitness programs regardless of their financial situation. In accordance with this commitment, we are happy to offer financial assistance to any who need it. To apply, download and apply the application below, and return it to the Front Desk with page one of the previous year's income taxes. Our Front Desk manager will determine what you are eligible for and contact you when a decision has been made.

Booking a Lesson

Lessons must be booked with a pro directly. For tennis, visit our Meet Our Pros section of the tennis page. For pickleball, contact Craig Wilson at craig@midcoastrec.org. For hockey, email our Arena Director, Jesse Simko, at jesse@midcoastrec.org. For figure skating, email our Figure Skating Director, Kitrina Patterson, at kitrinamrc@gmail.com

FAQ

Do I have to preregister for a program?

Yes. With the exception of our Public Skates, we ask that you preregister for any of our programs before entering the building. This helps us know who to expect in the building and who to call in the rare case that we have to cancel a program. It also ensures that you have a spot in the program and that you are not wasting a trip driving in, as, unfortunately, there is often more demand for our programs than we actually have space.

Do I have to pay if I'm put on a waitlist?

There is no charge for being on a waitlist. It is only if/when a spot opens up in the program and you agree to fill it that you are charged for the program.

When do I have to pay for a program?

Payment is taken at the time of registration. Financial assistance and payment plans are available, please speak to the Front Desk before registering.

If I receive financial assistance, can I apply it to past programs or programs I'm already participating in?

Unfortunately, we are not able to retroactively apply financial assistance. If you feel you might need financial assistance, please apply and wait for a determination BEFORE registering for any programs.

Do I have to be a member to rent a court at MRC?

No, membership is not required for court reservations, although people playing at MRC who do have a fitness membership receive free court reservations on the weekends for themselves.

Can I get a refund if I have to cancel?

Yes, as long as you have cancelled 24 hours in advance for a daily program (such as a round robin or pickleball Open Play) and 1 week in advance for a week long, monthly, or 6 week program (such as a summer camp, junior program, or learn to play program).

Refunds are typically processed as credit placed on your account, which can be used for any future charges in the building. Please specify if you would prefer the money returned to your card. Credit card refunds can take 2-3 business days to process.

Do I have to check in at the Front Desk?

Yes. We ask that everyone checks in at the Front Desk as they enter the building every time.

Can I show up to play if I'm on the waitlist?

No. We would ask that you do not come in for a program unless you have been called.

Am I eligible for financial assistance?

Financial assistance is determined based off of your household income and how many people reside in your home. To determine if you are eligible, please complete and return our financial assistance application. We are here to assist everyone in accessing sports and fitness programs and, thanks to the support of our community, are able to offer at least 25% financial assistance to most applicants.

Do I have to be a member to participate in MRC programs?

No, MRC is open to the public! There is no membership required to participate in any programs here.

How do I rent a court?

Our court schedule can be viewed online by following the button at the top of our main page. Once you have determined the day and time you would like, please give our Front Desk a call to book it. At this time, court reservations cannot be made online.

Courts can only be booked up to 2 weeks in advance and must be cancelled at least 24-hours in advance to not be charged. If you are reserving multiple courts or placing multiple bookings, payment must be taken at the time of reservation.

Are there family memberships?

At this time, we are only able to offer individual memberships. The perks of the membership, such as the free weekend court time, only applies to the individual with the membership. This means that if a member rents a court, their portion of the court is free and anyone else playing on that court would still pay for their portion of it.

Memberships can only be used by the membership holder, and cannot be used by other members of the family.
