Public Skate
Public Skate is a great time for anyone to get on the ice! We offer regularly scheduled times when everyone in the community can enjoy ice skating. Both figure skate and hockey skates in children and adult sizes are available to rent.
Tickets must be purchased for each Public Skate, and are non-refundable and non-transferable. A pass purchased for the first Public Skate of the day cannot also be used for the second skate, no matter how much or how little time was spent on the ice.
$7 per Skate Pass

MRC offers skate aids for children new to being on the ice. These are free to borrow but limited in number, and are loaned out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Safety gear, such as helmets and knee pads, are strongly recommended, though not required. MRC does not have helmets or other safety gear to rent.

Learn to Skate
It's never too late to learn how to skate! MRC offers a variety of skating programs from beginner to advanced.
In today's fast-paced world, children juggle more tasks than ever. MRC follows the Learn to Skate USA® programs that teach your kids lessons to sharpen their focus and provide greater balance on and off the ice. As they conquer challenges on the ice, paths to greater confidence and strength beyond the world of skating will be opened right before their eyes.
Adventurous adults know desire overcomes age when exploring something fresh and new. MRC recognizes skating as the timeless activity anyone can enjoy, for both the young and young at heart, and has programs available for all ages. Our programs encourage adults and give them all the resources they need to stop asking "why?" and start asking "why not?"
Our Learn to Skate programs run in 6-week sessions, and pre-registration is required.

Figure Skating
MRC offers introductory and advanced level figure skating classes. From Ice Dance to Power Stroking to Theater on Ice, we have the class for you!
Challenging kids makes them stronger than you can imagine. MRC strives to build your child's confidence every session. They do learn to fall, but more importantly, they learn to get back up! Given this strength, they might even learn to fly. Anything's possible once your kids gain the power they need to do good in the world.

Hockey
Youth Hockey
MRC offers hockey development programs for youth ages 3 and up. From intro programs to advanced, we have a program for you.

For kids ages 9-14 who advanced enough to play on teams, the Maine Coast Storm offers both in-house and travel hockey teams. The Storm's practice and home games are held right here at MRC, and they are a great next step for kids aging out of MRC level hockey!

Adult Hockey
MRC offers a wide variety of hockey for adults, from Learn to Play hockey, to contract groups, to full season teams, and even a Dusty Pucks league specifically for players ages 55 and older!
Most teams are organized by private contracts. If you are unsure which team would be best for you, contact our Arena Director, Jesse Simko, at jesse@midcoastrec.org for assistance.

Ice Skating Birthday Parties
Roller Skating birthday parties are scheduled during our public skates. Party packages include 20 skate passes with skate rentals, as well as your choice of either our private birthday party room- a private room with tables and chairs located in our arena- or the raised seating area located in our main lobby, less private but with more space.
(Additional skate passes can be purchased at the regular cost)

Skate Sharpening
MRC offers skate sharpening on a 24-hour turnaround basis.
Same day sharpening may be available on a day-to-day basis. Please call ahead before bringing your skates in to check availability.

Summer Arena
Each year, between April and September, the ice comes out and roller skating comes in! The ice may be in now, but you can still find all of our Summer Arena activities so that you can plan ahead for when summer returns!
